Summary 

The feature dataset serves as an essential tool for the state Department of Health to determine coverage-based information about the media outlet. This critical information is useful to alert the media in case of an emergency and notify the public of a possible disease outbreak, or a bio-terrorism threat. The database provides location information for use in local and regional spatial analysis applications.

Description 

Data available online through Arkansas Spatial Data Infrastructur (ASDI) at http://gis.arkansas.gov. The feature dataset contains the FM Radio Station broadcast towers in the State of Arkansas. The compilation of this dataset was done using GPS coordinates acquired by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and contact data collected by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). The project was a collaborative effort between the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Office and ADH to build a comprehensive geographic database of Media (TV, Radio, Newspapers) coverage's in the state for external communication purposes.
